Ranch Hand Headquarters (Listed 1-1-23)
Circle A is the largest cattle ranch in the state of Missouri and one of the most well-respected ranches in the country. At Circle A, “quality beef is our business” and we expect that same quality in everything we do. From our customer service to the cattle we raise, we expect perfection. At Circle A, we are constantly looking for new ways to improve our herd such as creating our own breed of Wangus cattle to improve the quality of our meat as well as the performance of our cattle. We are looking for someone who is especially knowledgeable about cattle and will be a valuable asset to our operation.
It is a demanding job at times but also extremely rewarding. We are looking for someone that values hard work and integrity and is passionate about the cattle we raise. In this position, you will be given a lot of responsibility. You will be solely responsible for looking after several hundred head of cattle and we expect you to care for them as if they were your own. We also are looking for someone who is a good team player and works well for others because at the end of the day, we are all working towards the same goal of developing superior genetics and providing outstanding customer service in everything we do.
We are located in Iberia, about 30 minutes east of Lake of the Ozarks and 45 minutes south of Jefferson City. Hours will vary by season: during the winter, will need to be willing to work nights and night calve heifers, during the summer the days may be less than 8 hours. Expect to work half-days every other weekend.
Responsibilities:
- Managing a herd of 200-500 head of cattle, checking and treating for any illnesses or injuries and feeding on a daily basis
- Moving, driving and gathering cattle
- Vaccinating, tagging, implanting, and working cattle in a group setting
- Tagging and checking off calves every day during calving season to make sure they are all accounted for
- Night calving heifers during the early spring
- Operating farm equipment as needed, including but not limited to: tractors, loaders, and feed trucks
- Assisting in farming activities as needed, included but not limited to: hauling hay and packing down silage pits
- Performing maintenance tasks such as fixing and building fence, repairing equipment as needed, and ensuring that the barns you oversee are well taken care of
- Doing what the ranch manager asks of you
Qualifications and Skills:
- Resumes are required to apply
- Must have at least 3 years’ experience working with cattle
- Must be knowledgeable about various illnesses that may occur and be able to identify the proper treatment
- AI or CDL certification is not required but would help you stand out among other candidates
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is at the discretion of the ranch manager hiring you and will depend of your experience but the baseline salary would be $32,000
